some other 404 questions

yo whats up guys i have a few questions now that i've dived into the 404. there still basic questions here i go:

1) how can i record a sample into the 404 and have it stop recording once the sample is done? ex: a kick drum. i want it from start to finish. obviously its like a 1 second long sample, and it gets hard to fine tune it perfectly to start to finish. i know you can edit it nicely on the 404, but isn't there a simple way just to get it recorded on no hassle? or maybe drag the sample onto the memory card when it's in my computer so i don't need to edit anything, is that possible?

2) when i record a pattern how can i export it? i know how to export a sample but can't seem to do it with a pattern.

3) when do you decide to record a pattern vs. just resampling the whole song onto one pad? it seems like the same thing to me, except when you record the pattern it doesn't take space up when in sample mode.

4) when recording a pattern how do you decide the length of it? i record loops not knowing how long i'm gonna make them, and even if i do know how long i'm gonna make it its not like i take the time to count it out to set the length perfectly, kinda weird to me.

5) how can i add an EQ over the whole pattern and record it like that? i made a whole pattern then realized the sound was off, so i added EQ over it and it sounded way better but i can't re-record the whole sample with the EQ, any ideas?

1. you can do it on the sx i think, not on the og. imo its probably a bigger pain in the ass to chop something up in a computer than record it in, just throw that whole sample in, and chop it in the box.
use that mark button.
2. you're guna have to record it into something external like a multitrack tape player or daw. if i get what you're asking
3. whatever u like the best. i like resampling. never ran out of pads on the 404

5. you can tweak the eq of the whole track once you get it on the computer. or use the sp eq by recording into something then sampling it to a pad.

i see, god the 404 is so beautiful and has the power to do it all if you just take the time, it's pretty amazing!

for putting it into a tape recorder or a daw, how can i directly get the sound into one of them? i can get sounds coming into my 404 but how will i extract it? im guessing switch it from line in to line out?

yeah exactly, use your instincts and mess around with the machine, figuring stuff like this out is half the fun

i actually have another question: when resampling can i have exactly whats on the pad resampled without having to time when i stop the sample?

example: i want to resample pad 10 to pad 11 with reverb. so i add reverb to pad 10, record onto pad 11 and have to time when i stop it, which is very annoying..is there a workaround?
