Electric shock/charge...

Post by DanVallins »

Hello there,

I turned on my sp555 the other day to find it giving off a very visible electric charge across the metal surface... it was resting ontop of my guitar amp, would this be the cause?

I haven't turned it on since, quite a scary prickly feeling when running my hand across...

It would be great to know if anyone else has ecnountered this and what I should do to stop this.

Thanks,
Dan

Don't know the scientific reason (static buildup?) but i'd get it off there and onto a more neutral table/stand.

I know i've had a hot mic shock my lip so hard I about teared up , electricity is no joke

Hey there, slow reply I know!

I've moved it onto my table and I still have the same weird feeling when I touch the casing, it's as if it's slightly magnetic or something... I might have to get it looked at by someone who know's about electrics...

Ok so this might seem a stupid thing to say but I thought the same thing about my 555 but then realised that the metal panel has a brushed finish that feels 'prickly' when you run your finger up and down the metal. Is this what you are feeling or is it more of a hair raising sensation?
