Hey guys, I need some help,

I recently purchased a Tascam 238
http://www.phys.tue.nl/people/etimmerman/recordingfaq/.../tascam.html

and therefore require an outboard mixer with 8 discrete inputs & 8 direct outputs.............. any suggestions ? Money is tight, so preferably max, $150 ?

i used an old yamaha 16 track for a while it worked good and they are affordable, you should be able to score one for less than $100, but there is no much out there, i wouldnt recomend only that one. just make shure f your getting an old one , to ask if it buzzes and crackles out of control.

maybe something like this, im not shure how many outs it has, but it has a good compressor and effects.

i would steer clear of berhinger, even though you can get like a million track mixing desk for a couple hundred bucks, it will be a peice of crap. but it kinda looks cool

Yeah its a roll of the dice with behringer. I have the 1622FX and its holding up, but how long, I dont know. But its working out for me, got some AUX sends to a korg quad and internal effects rocking. Tracked out my mpc and everything gets mixed and recorded to my tascam.

My Behringer is still going after about 8 years. Has a bit of noise, some dodgy sockets, and the effects packed up early on but it still does the job.

i didnt mean to slander berhinger, i just had mostly bad results with their gear, however, i have had good results working with tape and berhinger signals.

a good hack you can do with these mixers, is run the outs into the ins, and then fiddle with the eq's this will make crazy ass bass wobbles, i think this was a form of one of the first syntheziser, the 'WOBBULATOR'
