When it comes to compressing drums using the vinyl simulator, do you compress one drum hit at a time, or do you compress the whole break?

If I compress the break too much, I notice that it resonates all the hiss from the record. This creates a muddy low end. :(

If anyone can give me some advice on this, that would be much appreciated.

Peace

both... it depends. I sometimes record the sample raw and then cut it up. then put vinyl sim on the drum sequence.

i would never use it on hits, because its got a very sharp attack that isnt so tasteful when being compressed the second time
