# effect 20 - Chromatic PS #
people complain theres no real pitch on the 404sx
...pissin around with the effects,i gave it a shot
works well when pitching drums ..note you have to have CTRL 3 panned all the way right..
& CTRL's 1 & 2 have to be turned to exact same position as each other(just check on screen display for further guidance)
works good on single notes, 2 octaves to mess with... infinite in theory if you keep pushing the parameter through resample mode
overall sound is kind of 12 bit / lo-fi
...
that is almost all.you may wanna run the sounds through other effects after to add more dynamic

I use that effect sometimes in basically the same way.
In addition to changing the pitch of single notes or full samples, it also seems to boost the samples a bit, making them fatter (as well as deteriorating the sample quality a bit, too).
While on the topic of effects, do you ever use the Center Cancel effect for drums? They work well to fatten up the low and high ends to give them a nice tone, but the overall volume is decreased. How would you guys boost it back up without it clipping? Isolator or equalizer?

EQ appears to do the job with less harsh results
i just realised i'm using Isolator(which is good for low/high pass filter) on my drums instead of the proper EQ - which seems to add less harshness.
so much on the SP gets overlooked until you experiment with it...cheers for bringing it back into my consciousness
In addition to Kris - KRiS - White's suggestion , maybe you could fuck off and die in a fire with your boots and sunglasses.

i think it's a troll account, hijacked many threads with similar interjections

Re: # Chromatic Pitch Shift #
Could somebody explain to me the difference between "real" pitch, the pitch effect on the 404SX and the chromatic pitch effect on the 404SX?
I've noticed the pitch effect on the 404SX is harsh sounding & different than pitch on a turntable and I realize the chromatic effect works with notes but beyond that I don't get the technical or practical differences.
Thanks.

Re: # Chromatic Pitch Shift #
real pitch is turntable style pitching, speeding up and slowing down the sample, like an mpc does while tuning samples or using the 16 levels. the sp default pitch is a uniqiqe feature with a tape style echo that allows you to mix the pitch effect with original sound,
chromatic pitch is almost like default sp pitch, but allows you to dual tune and also mix the original sound. its great for messing with drums and making new types of sounds.
