Re: BATTLE 115 VOTE!
VOte for timmytoga cause I liked the whole thing, kinda glitchy and raw sounding. Almost everyone used the sample the same way... funny.
Re: BATTLE 115 VOTE!
it was tough to make a choice, but i had to go with wax inspektor on this track! I really dug the DEPTH those samples had, like, really made those different sounds interesting. also the drum tempo was dopeeee.
great job everyone, i look forward to the next battle!

Rabot!
Re: BATTLE 115 VOTE!
There were too many tracks to give feedback for everyone, but the highlights for me were:
Rabot - Heavy, heavy rhtyhms, I was kicking myself for not using the break like you did. Nice stereo spacing too.
Mad Evil Science - Intense resampling (getting that clap & shaker out of the samples), great mechanical rhythm. The beat sounds like your pseudonym!
Asha C - nice development & the way the bass grew & wobbled at the beat's end was all class. Great use of 3/4 time as well (that's something you don't hear around here much).
Ellaguru - That pad sound... Wow, totally Boards of Canada-ish. Loved it! Drums were a little rough but it adds to the charm with more listens (it took a while to get used to the complexity of the rolls).
Preqwal - The closest thing we got to a banger this time. Best use of the sample's horns this round.
Timmytoga - Like the change up & 404 glitching. Sounds like you were having fun with this one.
Wax Inspektor - Classy shuffle & wah. Cinematic vibe & great mix, frequency-wise the samples were really well balanced.
*EDIT* I forgot to say I voted for Rabot!

The sample was really limited in terms of notes, chords & structure. It was a difficult sample to turn completely upside down. Which was one of the reasons why I picked it. Gotta say that I disagree though, I think the beats were actually pretty varied considering the limitations of the source material... Which made the number of submissions even more impressive.Rabot wrote:Almost everyone used the sample the same way... funny.

thanx Unfo!Unfolding Machines wrote:Ellaguru - That pad sound... Wow, totally Boards of Canada-ish. Loved it! Drums were a little rough but it adds to the charm with more listens (it took a while to get used to the complexity of the rolls).
i worked some violins's frequencies on the 505 to find that sound: sometimes this machine still surprise me. i worked freq with eq+isolator then compressor and after this process i used the 505's pitch function (on High log resolution). the same for that fat bass sound (but on Low log resolution this time).
i agree for the drums, they're mostly played live; i was tempted to re-post a better working track but this time i was a little lazy.
ps
i have an idea of voting, but i will relisten better the whole tracks
Re: BATTLE 115 VOTE!
i voted for Wax: great work on the samples' notes'n'sound, sounding like synths or something else.
special mention for Unfolding Machines: that second illbient part is crazy, that's the roll technique i love.
mention to Mad Evil Science and Preqwal, good tracks guys.
thanks to all of you for partecipating.

Re: BATTLE 115 VOTE!
It was hard to pick just one beat but i went with ellaguru to me the drums sounded like a beat juggle on turntables nice work. I also liked alot of the other beats definetly a massive amount of talent in here. Thanks to Unfolding Machines for the feedback. Also a little side note i noticed some of you guys used box and some soundcloud to submit your beats is there a prefered method for submiting and or is there a benefit to using box just curious about that.
Re: BATTLE 115 VOTE!
MAAAAN its so difficult to choose.
Unfolding Machines: Great work, LOved the snare sound you got. You're gonna have to let me know how you do those crazy rolls?TOTAL FREAKOUT ending, loved it.
G.I.S Loved the tribal feel the track had.Crazy rhythms.
ELLAGURU Loved the bass, dark and downright dirty.
I'm gonna go with Mad evil science, I have no idea how you got those drum sounds, at first I had the same thoughts as unfolding that you'd used your own kit. Awesome work, that kick and snappy/clappy snare just amazed me that it came from those samples.
sorry for the lack of feedback on other tracks, I just wrote this as I was listening to the ones that were my favourites.

Re: BATTLE 115 VOTE!
For me it was between Wax Inspektor and ellaguru. Wax had awesome drums and interesting harmonies with the layers, but I'm choosing Ella's for the psychotic vibe this time.

Re: BATTLE 115 VOTE!
Cool to see so many participants! How should I vote for… I think I vote Preqwal. Nice beats from all of you. (Thanks for the vote on my “jungle beat” someone
)
Re: BATTLE 115 VOTE!
Thanks for the vote, even tho i feel bad cause my beat was kinda microwaved and no so creative, but i'm glad you liked it.

Re: BATTLE 115 VOTE!
...so that this doesn't take forever i'd suggest to hand over the next sample / drum pick to preqwal and rabot... jus get in contact with each other and makes us some dope pack for #116!
thnx for the votes; although i don't see my ish under the top3.
