playing live?

Post by skinny.b »

sup, so i've been toying with working some of my stuff into a live format, gets pretty complex at times! anyone got any advice? how do you cut up your tunes to play live on the sampler? do you generally try to recreate full compositions or do you do it more on the fly? just interested as i've hit a spot where my SP is nearly full and i only have maybe 20 mins of continuous music on there!

any tips?

Each pad is a new 'song'. I play one then add some delay or w/e for a transition and go to the next pad/song. Rinse repeate. Easiest way to do it. You can also try breaking up the parts into pads and play then back in different arrangements like you would with ableton clips live. Different ways to do it, just play around.

yeah there's basically 2 school.

the 1 song a pad, fade with delay or fx into another one, witch is really nice for dj set or long sets.

or the a song a bank for live perf/skill showoff kinda thing lol. (or just few pad for a song..)

both works, it just depend on what you wanna do.

i work with a mix of the 2, some song a pad, some live play!

Cool, I might try and mix it up a bit cuz some of them are just too complex! Really want to get out there doing it live, guess I gotta think outside the box!
