Korg kaoss quad= get it.
It's a fun little box. Just for effects but there is slot of potential for resampling and live use. It's like a 404 with a x/y pad and 4 simultaneous fx. The ducking effect is the shit and creates that pumping sound that is so lovely. A decimator( lofi) effect that adds some grit. The tape echo with the grain shifter makes some insane crunchy ass stretching effect that's always bad ass during a drop or something. If you can get your hands on one for 200 or less, get it. Great for the lazy guy who wants to resample with more than 1 effect at a time.

Same here. Finally had to get one. The effects are pretty dam strong. And the low pass filter with the decimator makes some cool ass low end effects.
Re: Korg kaoss quad= get it.
So I've been looking for a 404 since I sold mine a couple months back (
) with little success... Considering that I want it mainly for resampling / fx and the price is about the same, would you grab the Quad or 404 if you were in my position?

Not tryna threadjack but at the moment it's just an MPC 2500, Korg MS2000R, turntable and a cassette deck. Loved the 404 for its dual role - effects and resample combined with above, or making full beats on it's own + vinyl. Always had an eye on the Kaoss pads but they seemed a little one trick to me. Never seen anyone do anything good with the sampling capabilities of the later ones except that Beardyman dude, and I hate his music.

Re: Korg kaoss quad= get it.
assuming that you sequence with the 2500, you would probably do better with the quad. If you were to sequence with the 404 then id say get that and deal with the 1 effect at a time and find a way to loop the signal back into the mpc. I do this with the mpc 100 and my sp808. Send out a random output (not the stereo out) to the quad, then the quad to the 808, then 808 back into the mpc. So i can sample everything i send from the mpc and the 808 has 2 audio ins, so one is grabbing the sound from the mpc and the other has a turntable. Ive only played with it last night for HOURS!!! and i had a nice grain shifting and delay thing going with the drum loop. Just the fact that i was able to rock 4 effects at the same time, its opened my mind up to more possibilities that i would ignore because of the fx-resample-effect-resample method of the 404. I get tired after like 3 resamples and just go with what i got. So id suggest the quad if you only need effects and dont mind resampling with the mpc if you can create the loop. Or the 404 if you wanna resample in there then send it back to the mpc. Depends on what you got.

I actually didnt contact your dude. I was in the store and after i purchased it, i remember and was like DAAAAAAAM! Your post popped into my head like lightning but i was already on my way out the door with it. Next time.
It is fun as hell to see which effects produce which sound. I got this weird thing going on where i have the grain shifter rocking with the tape echo but i dont know which one im controlling cause freeze isnt on either. And im all high thinking im controlling the X/Y of both effects at the same time which would be the shit!!! But i think it was just the echo.
Im like a kids first visit to an amusement park.
