Beginner question

Hi guys, I have what is probably a simple question for you guys. I am making a pattern and finding when I add a certain amount of samples, some of them start to cut out. It seems like there are too many so that they are overlapping each other. But it's not like I'm using an extremely high number of samples. Could someone help me out and tell me why this is happening? I tried changing all of the samples to lo-fi and it seemed to help a bit, but still hitting a limit.

it prolly more has a problem with gate or loop sample.

never use loop when doing pattern sequecing (unless you know what you're doing)

if the sample are gated, then you gotta hold them for how long you want them to stay on.

if the sample are one shots( not gated/looped) then you will retrigger them the next time on the pattern sequencer thing.

also... the sp404 only has a 12voice poly, aka 6 stereo sample, if you add more than 6 stereo sample in the sequencer you might end up having some problems.

use mono if you want more samples at the same time.

I think the 404 can only play 8 mono samples at the same time, stereo samples take up 2 spots. You might be trying to play 4 stereo samples at the same time that is the Max. A stereo sample that is lo fi is still a stereo sample.

Thanks guys. I made sure none of my samples are gate or looped. But they are all stereo. If I change them to mono, does that mean the sound only comes out of one side? Or does it mean it comes out the same on both sides?

They'll be summed to mono and sound on both sides without panning/stereo spread.
