exclusive mono?

Post by Krisso The Great »

i was wonderring does anybody produce all their audio purely mono instead of stereo

from what i know from not panning my stuff in the past apposed to panning to spread the field...mono sounds thicker ...thereason why SP303/SP1200 and all the other mono pieces of equipment appear to have a 'phatter' sound to em?

For a while I was all mono then I got mpc 1k, sp404 and an iPad and I could finally use stereo. I did this for a year or more and now I'm back to mono on the 505. You get different results with each and i don't think one sounds particularly better than the other.it all just depends on the samples.

usually mono, so save memory, but when recording back from tape, its nice to catch the stereo nuances and anomalies.

Mono 4 life.

(But mostly cause I always forget to press 'stereo' before I sample.)

I love stereo, no matter what SP I'm using. Usually, I may go mono on kicks and snares to save polyphony and also mono for bass. But for dusty LP samps and field recording samps I love the fullness of stereo.
