my choice was between unfolding machines and MDX. I really felt the second part of slow growth especially the delays but my vote goes to MDX, his garden was the most bouncing beat in this battle and he used the samples very well.
thank you for adding me eisendraht. I really could have waited it out but much appreciated for adding me:) first beat ive done in close to 3 months... schools been crazy busy. thanks a'jin for the kind words. much respect to all that get in on these. great ideas all around.
Voted for Gis- for best sound design in this round. I'm a sucker for a bit (a LOT) of resampling to really change the characteristics of a sample, especially when it retains a similar vibe to the source (this time- wistful). The use of reverb & stereo space was really well done here- its more adventurous than what most SP users do. Can't say I'm a fan of four-on-the-floor or minimal techno rhythms but on a technical level that's a great piece of work. Plus this kinda reminds me of old Seefeel for some reason (a VERY good thing).
From a more straightforwrard beathead/hip hop angle it was a toss up between Auqs & Mohzus. Auqs- loved the way that Petals seemed to be the middle of something larger with the wonky intro & drum roll ending, plus the melodic chop you rode was well found. Mohzus/MDX- for the lo-fi head-bouncer. Nice & powerful flip, the chops made the basic drums work quite smoothly.

Thanks! I did a lot of resampling. Youre right there. I had to check Seefeel up... Interesting.
seefeel were great. i say "were" but i think they're recently out with a new album, correct me if i'm wrong. check "fracture tied ep", "starethrough ep", "succour" (album) and also the other album, the first one , "quique" is not a bad listen..

Quique isn't a bad listen, its a GREAT listen! That album's what I was thinking of when listening to Gis' track.
Ellaguru- you're right, they put out another album about a year or so back but it wasn't as blissed out as their older stuff, it was at lot more cold & experimental. Hardly surprising that they changed after 15 years off & replacing half the band. Whether that change was for the best depends on how much you're over shoegaze (I'm not, so I still prefer the old Seefeel).
Anyway, MDX or myself will start battle 113 in a day or two (we're PMing about it). Stay tuned!
i'm late to say but i voted for Unfoldmachines, i've forgotten to told you guys. always good tracks from all of you. cheers ps like this i'm no more "anonymous" ahah
