http://www.box.com/s/04c41e537377135d3d87
Some drum samples from Yamaha QY-10
http://www.box.com/s/b1c8c65da69b7f3ae059

My Open Battle Rules
Use the samples.
Add bass if you like (tell us the source of the sound).

Because of eastern give you some extra days.
Submit your beat before 10th of April!

Yeah I’m aware of the battle-time-discussion…

>-EDIT-2012-04-05-08:19-<
Ellaguru wants to add other instruments/samples than a bass. I said OK. Now this is a very open battle… But please declare which external samples you have used.

If I read between the lines you have an idea. Am I right? Then this battle will be an extremely open battle, but OK if you tell us what you have used. Go ahead!

My beat Don't Try This At Home

I used the following hardware;
cassette deck
pair of scissors
cassette
magnet
cheap portable cassette player
SP-404

This is what I did (if you are interested  )
erased the tape with the magnet
recorded the drum samples and some Händel on the tape
chopped the tape into pieces
opened the cassette and made some changes to it...
dragged my cassette tape pieces past the cassette head with help of my modded cassette...
recorded into the SP-404

i remember you were a cassette manipulator.
now a big OT.
how do you use the magnet? when you say "...and made some changes to it...! is it possible to know the secret of the kitchen?

... this idea was a cul de sac... but fun...
It worked with the drum sounds but Händel sounded like... I dont know...

Well, I used the magnet to erase the tape "on both sides" at the same time. The cassette of course only uses one side... :-) I dont want any other sounds then the samples.
And I had to mod the cassette (the hard part) to lead the tape around the "driving wheel". The black rubber wheel (if you have a better tape player it has got two of them).

Now let me hear some more beats!!!

It's definitely fun little piece of device. I got it mostly because I'm on the road all the time and it's really hard to give up clothes space to stuff like ESX and 404...this thing is the size of a 8 1/2x11 piece of paper folded in half. And I don't need my US122 to record live audio with it because it can record itself live internally...so that saves a LOT of space in my suitcase (and saves my gear from getting more damaged than it already has from luggage tossers at the airport...my ESX and 404 both now have scars!)
