is it me or do you wanna loop a section you have to press the mark button 1th of a second before each marker - start and end
to get the perfect loop i feel like i have to have a click in the loop...annoying to say the least

Made a post/reply about it on the SP-555 forum. Checked the manuals for both the regular 404 and 404SX, they work just the same for this:
If you wanna have an end point based on BPM: hit Mark for the start point then either A) Tap Tempo or B) Press Time/BPM and set BPM with Ctrl 2, hit Mark again for the end point. It's gonna be on the beat.
This might help a little. Plus, you can use the metronome to get the start point more precisely, I guess.
Another thing that's useful for getting rid of clicks and pops is moving both Ctrl1 and Ctrl2 (Start and End) by the same amount. There's a video (and a topic somewhere in here) about chopping on the SP-555 that shows this.
Edit: Apparently you have to press Time/BPM either way (Tap Tempo or Ctrl2).
