what did dilla produced on the 303?

His early work that got him noticed but then he switched to an mpc to make most of his released work except Donuts which was made with a 303 and portable turntable in the hospital.

You're kidding, right? When did the 303 come out on the market? 2001 or something?

Ever heard of "Runnin'", "Stakes is high", the whole "Beats, Rhymes and Life" album, "Fantastic Vol. 2" or "Like Water for Chocolate"?

All these are records that Dilla produced long before the 303 was released, and to say that he didn't get noticed for it is very disrespectful.

I don't know which beats Dilla did on the 303, but my guess would be Donuts, and maybe some of the beats on "Champion Sound".

JayLib - The Red... I'm pretty sure this was made on the sp303... the bass sounds like the sp effect.

Wow. I had no idea the 303 was so new (relatively). It looks like Roland applied for the patent 1999, then released it two years later in 2001. I figured it had been around for a lot longer than 7 years. It's design doesn't really strike me as "turn of the century."

From what I remember reading, He was given either a 303 or mpc1k during one of his hospital stays. I dunno, I always thought a lot of the joints on Donuts were made with the 303 cuz of the time frame of production plus the quality and vibe of em.

Donuts was produced on madlibs sp303, which he gave to dilla while he was in the hospital together with portable turntable. That's what I've heard.

Than he must've used a 202 'cause he was given an mpc by a friend when he saw what dilla could do with the 303. But I'm not positive nor does it really matter, but to patna dude that said I was being disrepectful you just plain stupid and obviously don't know shit about how feel when it comes to James Yancy. R.I.P.

J-Dilla, one of the best of all times. I read somewhere, I think Peanut Butter Wolfe said that he used it in the hospital while composing donuts. I'm not sure about any other work, but I know all of donuts was composed on it. Peace, Duss.

I was just listening to Donuts and whatever he used he killed it. The way Dilla flipped them joints so subtly even after two years it still sounds fresh. Airworks alone kills me everytime.

Damn, thats good news, much success to you and the project. Keep me posted so I can support it when it drops. Yeah, I've sent stuff in to them in the past, knowing it would probably be thrown on a massive pile of other cd's and cassettes. Same with a few other cool little indie labels. So I just said fuck it, I'm gonna just do it myself ya know..So I'm just gonna grind it, till it pops off, or I get some type of inside track. Duss.
