hi amable.
im an sp 555 user
its a good choice of sampler
depends on what youre trying to accomplish.
not really aware of the specs
but its been my main workhorse in the lab and
even doing live stuff.

-has a fantom input which comes really handy if
you have an condenser mic layin around.

-loop capture which i dont use that much.

-the d-beam is fun messin around with when youre tryin to talk to other-worldly species.

-fx..fx...fx..i just love how roland sampler comes with legit effects

-sampling is awesome tho after resampling the same sample it loses some of the sound quality

I think there are a few topics about this but, off the top of my head:

*Loop Capture is both great and awful depending on the circumstances;
*Audio Interface works well for external sources, not so well for the SP-555 itself (also USB volume is considerably low);
*D-Beam Synth is a bit less useful than it should be;
*2 Gb Compact Flash cards are still available but may not be easy to find locally (and the machine is picky about which ones work and which don´t);
*1 track sequencer;
*MIDI control less than stellar (pads have fixed notes, FX parameters can´t be automated);
*Metronome volume can´t be saved and all kinds of annoying details like that...

With that said, there are lots of workarounds and if you work with the limitations it is a nice device. Read the manual if you haven´t already and try before you buy if that´s possible.

loop capture alone is so dope and copying patterns is super dope as well all around its a raw machine so what ever comes out of it depends on what and how you treat your audio like if you put quality samples in it is dope if you put iffy samples in you got to do some work but its fun as hell but then aagain this is my first sampler so i dont have any to compare really hope this helps a bit

you can resample and record the audio input at the same time. I might be wrong tho, but i vaguely remember doing that.

You cannot as in normal resampling, but you can in the case that you use loop capture. You can also resample a pad while using any sounds triggered from the computer when the SP-555 is used as a soundcard. For instance, you can play drums using a midi controller in Ableton or FL, and play them over sample chops that are in the SP all while resampling (or you can play bass over your sampled loops).

Get a 555, you wont regret it. Love mine...but look into guitar center used for a good price.

That´s one very useful tip.
