You should invest in a bunch of em. I can't afford an audio interface at the moment. So I use a Y cable and my sound card for tracking into audacity.

Rabot wrote:even if I like my lil radio to death I think I should invest in a cassette player that actually records and play without to much hiss/fuzz and wierd artifact.

also anyone using these like Y line cable. like the one that you can plus 2 input to one output. do they work good?

I've had one for years. When you hook it up to a 404 u can access 2 banks of sounds via midi. Each bank is a separate track on the 307. This allows for you to mute out stuff on the 404. Also the 307 let's you make sequences in 1/10th of a bpm. For example like 87.8bpm. This handy because the 404 doesn't pitch so it's hard to get perfect loops on whole tempos. The 307 isn't the easiest machine to use but it has a ton of options. If you are patient you can get the most out of it. Like most Roland instruction manuals this one sucks too.

I got a new one back in 99 for $400.
I got a used one in 08 for $90.

cool, cool. The guy thats trying to seel it said the same thing. The manual sucks and its hard to use. I tend to get a machine and fuck with it in and out and figure it all out. Not making anything of corse but just jamming out to hours of whateverthefuck! I should just record all these sessions and chop em into microwave beats. Maybe someday. But the 307 seems like something ill fit into my nights of beer and jamming.

To be honest I just use it for the synths and drums, I know its bad but I never really learnt it that well, it's only since getting my 404 that I started using it again, it's got a massive amount of sounds though and the lfo is wicked

nice, recently ive been getting really into synth sounds. Kinda suck at making an arrangement but just the sounds you can make are fun as shit. Id love to get a lesson in synth music arranging. Its totally different than a sample based process but its fun as hell. I have a few synth apps on my ipad and i have been trying to get my hands on a korg ms2000 since forever. Anyone know any good links or books or synth music making. Sort of the basics of sound processing, shit like that.
