Hey all. I'm coming from the ableton world here. I wanted to simplify things so I bought a 404sx. I've had it for all of an hour and I'm thinking of how to set things up.
I was wondering what the easiest way to send a click to the drummer would be? I know I only have two output channels so would it be best to just pan everything I want to go to the mains to one side and have a click on the other? If this were the case could I always have a click going even if I haven't triggered a sample yet?
Thanks!
Ian

not really sure what you mean with the panning. in the 404 or with a mixer? as far as the click track, i guess you would just go into pattern record, then go into rehearsal mode so the click is going but no pad performance is actually being recorded to the sequencer. probably not much help there sorry...

No panning on the 404. Yr best bet is to get yr drummer to just play over the beat rather than looking for a click.

I understand there is no panning. I was thinking aloud that I might pan all of my samples to one side and have just a click on the other side (to send to drummer). Playing over the beat isn't always an option because the sample doesn't always start the song.
I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a metronome with a midi out? Would it be possible to set a metronome with midi out as a master clock?

your panning thing would work, but it's a bit of work...
unfortunatly, there is no midi-metronome (with midi out)...
http://www.clickkicker.com/ (won't work for your case anyway)
the cheapest thing i can think of is an alesis sr 16 drum machine...
-click to the drummer -midi out to the sp
(check the manual before though)

Re: Using 404sx with a band (syncing to a metronome)
what about you make patterns with the desired samples.
put the sample in PTN in the bpm option. (instead of having a BPM value)
then tap tempo to the drummer's beat. start pattern?
sample might be a little bit streched out but it's +1 on the lo-fi grit game.
