Open Challenge Idea (resampling battle)

Post by kel »

It might be interesting to have a battle where, instead of making songs out of the sample, we try to emulate other sounds out of it by resampling. It might be cool.
Like for example, the sample might be a frog croaking, and the object of the game is to make it sound as close as you can to... the sound of a typewriter or something... then the winner picks the new sound effect as well as the sound to emulate. I guess that video with the bird got me thinking....

Interesting idea. Using only the SP, I presume? Cuz, I can accidentally mangle a frog into a typewriter, but I'm not sure if I could do it on purpose. LOL

I missed the last two battles because of school...but I want to get back in...this might be easier to mess with in between papers and exams.

I'm sure we could give something like this a try, but I think it then should be a separate kind of battle.

I'm wondering though, what kind of target sounds do you have in mind? Perhaps we should first think of a couple of sounds that could be emulated, because I'm sure many sounds are out of the question if the source material isn't halfway 'compatible' with the target in mind.

It would force competitors into doing some very deep sampling and resampling though. 8)

Have we ever done a team battle? that might be cool. people randomly paired and they figure out how to collab on a track.
