I'm gonna spraypaint my SPs a solid color (maybe OG zelda-gold) but i wonder if i've screwed up that possibility by scratching the hell out of the plate, as you can see in the pic. will spraypaint stick to it or smear? also, will the surface be smooth or chalkboardy?

put a layer of glue on it then sprinkle something on top of the glue like gritty wood dust or something similair to the texture of the zelda cARTRIDGE. You could even go get like rock dirt and use that. With a good adhesive you could sprinkle whatever material that might emulate that texture. Maybe even a spray mount might work or some rubber cement/paper cement. Then once you glued some dirt to it, spray the fuck out of it in gold, then use some sort of polyurethane clear spray to seal it and give it a gloss.

hope it works out. The skratch look might be cool. Like a golden mf doom mask or a gold viking helmet. But the gloss spray is really whats gonna make it shine!

one more thing, you probably already know this if you have used spray paint before but do it in thin coats so you dont get globs in your button holes. Let it dry between layers and keep adding thin ass coats, like 2 feet away. You probably already know this, im just rooting for ya.

thanks for the reminder about thin coats from far away: i tried to paint some furniture without knowing that and it looked like shit, all lumpy. maybe i'll just do straight gold on the og surface... maybe since the silver already shines it will magnify it a little. i'll do the gloss afterward. thanks for the advice, i'll put pics up when i get done 8)

Don't forget to give it a few coats of prime first. You don"t want the paint to chip after a while of use.

aw man, wish i read that earlier, i didn't use any... i'll have to spray something on it though. i'm too impatient. found a can of glossy black paint in my closet and gave it a shot, turned out alright, here's a couple glamour shots

in broad daylight it kind of looks shitty but... when was the last time you made beats in the sun?

Turned out pretty cool. Looks like a matte black which is like secret spy black. You got a pair of spy's right there.
Nice!
