is it just me , or now with the ultra abundance of disposable media everything has lost its value?

does anyone apreciate anything at all anymore ?
Dude, the issue you point out goes both ways- those distributing media & those consuming it.

Pre-internet there was a deficit of information (ie-music), so naturally you'd have to search for the good stuff. So naturally what you'd find that hit the mark would leave more of an impression on you. As there's now a surplus of info, pretty much anything new can be found with ease these days right? Of course folks aren't going to stay still & continue to really listen to something if you can get more.

Its a matter of supply & demand and supply is currently outstripping demand. Will it be that way for forever from now on? Who knows? Probably best to just roll with it & see what happens. At least over here everything's done honestly and without ego problems.

anyway, some nobody like me or you comes along and drops the dopest shit ever, it gets a couple comments then fades in the quantum mush of the interwebs.
This clip of DJ Shadow talking about music (skip to the 2 minute mark) opened my eyes. History repeats itself with the vinyl to MP3 consumption patterns. Everyone's who's released music will end up consumed & forgotten, it doesn't matter if you're a nobody like you or me or have toured the globe a bunch of times supporting U2 or whatever.

with music nowadays there's no kinda connection with the artist and listener.
Dude, your contributions here helped getting me to buy your music on wax. Just picked up Cakeology the other day (bit gutted that I missed out on Machines Hate Me- does Alphapup only do single runs?) & I've been spinning the contributions you & PUDGE gave to All City since I could find it in stores. Seeing your opinions here egged me on to get into your tracks as more than a passing interest, so even though we don't chat & aren't on first name basis there is some kind of informal connection going on.

Reading your disappointment with that Madlib DJ set you opened for was better than any liner notes.

Vaguely kinda related: Paying for MP3s is bullshit. Giving up your hard earned cash for something intangible is a waste, but on the other hand torrenting albums kills it for the musician who made the music. Not just in terms of income but in terms of feedback of what's good & what's shit. If you download anonymously from somewhere like Rapidshare the musician gets no feedback you're taking interest in their work. And it is work.

I didnt read everything.

But i have one thing to say.

Scarcity in/with anything, makes a person appreciate more.
Whether its food, or water..whether its music or paintings..love or health. It applies to everything.

There is an overload nowadays of everything.. and I think some of people are or will grow tired of it, and get back to more simplicity and selfchosen scarcity. But only a few, the rest is and will be too afraid to miss out (on "it").
