Linn Drum II

Post by Euclid Ov Oåklånd »

Ha, the mpc is finally dead. You can program on this like an mpc with the live recording and like and sp with a step sequencer. There are two versions, one is a new mpc with new quantize algorhythms and the other adds a synth designed by Dave Smith.

Its 2008, I dont understand what could be so impressive about a drum machine- I am just fine with records and an SP.
plus i think I remember hearing the sampler is kinda limited, and you gotta load ur samples from a card. what is the point of this drum machine?

yeah, What can you do on this that you cant do on an MPC? I think these cats are just trying to cash in on their names.

Well, you can generate full analog synth sounds, compose tracks in multiple ways, and pretty much everything else the mpc can't. If I needed a sampler this would be the one, but I like my sp so I'm spending my cash on more recording hardware.

with the new jjos2 and a mpc1k you can do some pretty wild stuff like full adsr and synth capabilities plus it's now basicly a full DAW but that said i would love a true analog experiance. as far as cashing in on a name; i feel like they can do this bc they are so good at what they do. it's overkill i guess but to me it's like would you rather have a mustang or a mustang designed by Carrol Shelby. they are both cool but i would prefer to support someone with their heart and soul in it rather than some corporation that won't even fix our crappy pads(unless we give em more cheese, the rats).

actually if it's under 2 grand it's quite reasonable but i can't afford it so oh well...

true! i don't know how you guys flipped frosty, that was like going to church 4 me; something i really wouldn't want to do(no hate here though, i was raised christian. 18 yrs of service is enough).

hey xXx, akai does not make the linndrum2. but yes the mpc1k can be found on sale, especially if you can find a blue and red one, but i wouldn't reccomend it. hell, i'm thinkin of sellin mine and saving up for a linndrum2.
