Tascam Porta 02 Four Track Cassette

Post by yo-yo crunch »

sorry this has been done to death already but...

the record store has a porta 02 for $50. should i cop it? been using garageband in conjunction with my 404 and its been great but just looking to get away from the computer (who isn't?). only thing holding me back is i like to have a minimal setup and getting more gear is not that. right now i'm experimenting with eliminating my xenyx 802 mixer and ART audio interface from the setup. just rocking the 404, numark TTusb & garageband w/ akai LPK25.

got some jam packs for sounds but also been considering a synth. so what do you think is more vital for raw hip-hop--a cassette/digital multitrack or a synth?

is there a big diff between using a 4 track and doing resample method beats?
and how about cassette vs. digital multi (pros and cons of each)?

or should i just shut up and keep doing it how i've been doing it?

i just picked up a tascam 414 4 track a few days ago and i love it. It definitely has a raw sound compared to just an interface but thats just one reason I love it. I would recommend to cop the four track and then a synth cause with a four track you can overdub synths with your 404
