Can't swallow this trite. What a tool I am. That little chapter on "women" almost made me puke bro.

Seriously, there isn't a shred of higher thought exhibited in this link you posted. Got an issue? We got you a convenient answer... don't buy it? You're just branewashed, mmmwuahahhahhahhh

I actually read through that, can´t quite put my finger on if it is satire, I really lost it at:
"Now, first of all, if you restrict your own thoughts, then how the fuck do you expect to know the truth about reality? Repressed minds are devoid of truth, whereas, for example, this website and I are absolutely bursting with it. "

But yeah... he contradicts him(her?)self by saying you are brainwashed and you just believe what authoriy figures tell you, you weren´t around 5000 years ago... now let ME tell you what happened 5000 years ago.. wanting to be the new authority figure who tells us everything. And regarding planets being cubes but looking like spheres because they spin.. a cube spinning around one axis will not look like a sphere, and they didn´t specifically say they revolve around more than one axis, so the spinning cubes would still look like cubes. Not to mention they don´t explain WHY they would be cubes..

i think it's satire. Pretty sure the post was meant as a joke/troll/in the spirit of the thread title. :)

I don't get that impression at all actually. More the arrogant rantings of a sexually-frustrated teenager who's just discovered 'rebellion'. Not particularly constructive.

I actually agree with and am open to a lot of the kernels of ideas in there, but...

I'd love to see this thread go somewhere but it lacks a subject that I can readily identify. Or is it: how to get humanity back on track?

Broad topic. I share everyone's frustration with the willfully-ignorant, but am convinced that for most it is a fear/stress-response to the current climate of dis/mis-information, poverty and daily struggle. I personally do not think that the solution lies in the disciplines of computer-programming or evolutionary biology, though those disciplines certainly have a LOT to offer - in a nutshell I would put it that solutions may lie in reconciling the arts and sciences, which are the ultimate dichotomy in our time (yes, I agree with truthism-guy that Science has replaced Religion as the go-to dogma of our age) and that the scientific method has taken a perverted side-track from its humanistic roots after the Enlightenment.

Approach the Arts with the discipline of a Scientist.
Approach Science with the imagination of an Artist.

I consider myself really fortunate when I was 19 or 20 years old, fucking angry with society, a book on the library shelf caught my eye, "Voltaire's Bastards - The Dictatorship of Reason in the West" by John Ralston Saul. That and some of his subsequent books outline how since the early promise of "Reason" as a human quality to overthrow the for-granted dominance of the perverted Church it has become the only human quality left - at the expense of equally valid imagination, intuition, memory, ethics and common sense. The 'corporation' is the reptilian (if I may borrow an idea) where the individual is locked in a structure without any influence or knowledge outside of their own limited sphere and the Whole trucks forward with its own self-serving, mechanistic logic at the expense of everyone and everything. I can recommend anything written by Ralston Saul, and in the same way, journalist Chris Hodges, who is extremely vocal in his call for society to wake up én masse.

Meanwhile as I write this I just finished listening to a podcast that showed up in my soundcloud feed that fits like a glove this thread, a reasoned monologue from a white american male

I just had another idea...

What if the story of adam and eve was a parable about weed? Don't eat the weed cause you you'll get all high and think about shit I don't want you to? And it wasn't a snake, it was a guy selling herb down the street...man...so then when 'the man' those kids all stoned n shit, he was like, 'get outta my house you stoner loser! You don't work enough!' cause perfect world back then was everyone works, that's what you do, you sweat all day and sleep that's it.

What you think? It's no mystery that the bible has been political in it's translations for a long time...each version bent to suit the culture it's aimed at.

Been following these guys for yonks - they just get better and better...

Rap News 30 - New World Order

@Hseiken: The Fall was inevitable... without knowledge of suffering, good and evil there is no development. I'm reminded of David Lynch's "lady in the radiator" song, or Talking Heads:

Heaven
Heaven is a place
A place where nothing
Nothing ever happens

Weed is one of my favourite things, but I wouldn't go so far to say as it is the only thing required for engaging in thought (as a conscious activity). It does, of course, enable the breaking of fixed habits of thought (or I found it so when I started as a 17yr old, though I may well have been well on that train (of thought) by that age anyway...)

Well my reasoning is that it's psychoactive drug and nearly all psychoactive drugs are banned universally and not for safety reasons as in it'll kill you because of a heart attack. It's just described as 'dangerous'. You know what I mean?

Halucinations aren't dangerous in the right environments but it's definitely going beyond the bounds of everyday rational thinking, so I think it has something to do with it for that reason. When your thoughts aren't being swayed away from the indoctrination of an external substance that makes your brain solve problems slightly different, then there's absolute control. It's that questioning of authority and likely part of the story that is assumed is that the knowledge (i.e. the different chain of thought that brings the downfall of humanity in the story to a life of sin) is that different way of thinking that people engage in while under the influence of psychoactive substances, natural or otherwise, hallucinaginic or otherwise. I mean, everyone knows that you think differently on various substances like alcohol, but it's almost universally that alcohol makes you quite idiotic and you don't remember much if you take too much, whereas weed, you generally remember what you thought about when you come back down.

I don't know, most of the 2nd half of that paragraph was thinking out loud wihtout previous serious internal dialog about it.
