When you save back up data on the 404 does it back up the samples too? For instance after you backup could you delete all the pads and patterns and start fresh then reload all the old data later? Reason I ask is I thought this is how it worked but I think I just deleted my song for the battle, well the samples anyway.

are you talkking about backing up the internal memory on the cf card or backing up the cf card(roland folder) oon a computer?

any of this will hold both your samples and patterns.. just load it back in and you're ready to go..

The backup function on the SP-404 only backs up the samples and patterns on banks A and B. For the rest you will have to load the card into your computer and make a copy of the \Roland folder's contents yourself.

I was referring to backing up to the CF card, I don't have a card reader yet.
Ah, well I lost my samples for the battle. Shit happens. At least I know now. Thanks for clearing this up for me, the manual was pretty vague.
