It depends on what you are plugging the 404 into. The 404 has RCAs... so you are good with either cable...as long as the device you are plugging the 404 into can accept dual 1/4" or stereo 1/4" ... either will do the job.

thanks I had the rca cable going into two seperate 1/4 jacks into my mixer. But when listening back to the pan fx I could not hear it panning. I only hear the panning thru the sp404 headphone out?? any clues

If you are going into two mono inserts on your mixer... you're not going to hear the pan effect... at least that's what I think.

If you connect the 2 outputs of your 404 on 2 mono channels on your mixer then you will need to pan one channel lef t and the other right.

No but he will hear it correctly on his mixer.
That is if his 404 is not messed up.
