Digitakt is a bit out of my budget. I have a line on a SP-505, but it's not much cheaper than a brand new Model:Samples. I don't mind max 30 seconds per sample or the absence of sampling/resampling. I have other boxes that do that (Zoom SampleTrak, Korg ES-1) and they take care of my lo-fi needs too ...

Been hemming and hawwing over an SP-505 for a while. But now I'm thinking why not just go for an MS:Samples? Good amount of space, better sequencer, live on-the-fly programming, etc etc

Anyone had a play with both can compare?

How well does the 505 sync to external midi clock sources? My Zoom SampleTrak can't sync for shit.

So I gather you can't go in and out of sampling mode while the sequencer is playing. Can you program new patterns though without stopping the sequencer?

You certainly can sequence a SampleTrak with a Circuit, because each of the two synth tracks is a 6-note sequencer with adjustable gate times. The Circuit is even better for sequencing external synths/samplers than the Electribe 2, which messes up the gate times when you overdub notes. The only ...
