Sat down over the weekend and put together this little beat tape using nothing but the SP202, a micro br 4 track, a Yamaha qy70 and a pile of cassettes and records from Neil Young, some break beats and A Fistful of Dollars on VHS. This was the end result, some simple slow burnin' beats.

For the Love of Drums! (an Open Drum Break Series)
I started a series on YouTube called "For the Love of Drums!" I've been ripping drum breaks from my collection of LP's, cassettes and CD's (all in high quality wav) then editing the breaks to preserve the original groove but lock the tempo and loop them. Lots of classic breaks, some more obscure ...

I fell in love with the PO-33, I just ordered a second one to sync up. I can't wait. Been making little beats and loops like mad lately.. all up on my YouTube page.

Chip Maestro (Midi Interface for the NES)
Has anyone ever used one of these? I just came across it, looks amazing. A cartridge for your old Nintendo with a midi hookup so you can play the sounds of the NES sound chip. Interesting way to get some true raw 8 bit sounds. I may have to pick one up.

The 202 came out in 98. It followed the MS-1 which was 95. I remember reading it in some article about the most influential samplers of all time.

Anyone hear the new Apathy joint "The Widows Son"? I've had it on repeat since it dropped and I don't see it not being my favourite record of the year.

They seem to pop up on eBay pretty frequently. Pair it with a multi track recorder and you are well on your way to being DAW free my friend.

Re: Roland MS-1
The MS-1 is dope! I'm still trying to find a card that works for mine. A couple I thought would do the trick, didn't. All that glitchy goodness sounds like fun. I just recorded an all MS-1 jam on my four track. Awesome little sampler.

Re: Library Records at the local Thrift Shop
That's awesome dude! Gotta love a good find. I found a copy of Piano Viberations from the KPM label a few years back for a buck, now I'm realizing that particular record is worth some coin!

Library Records at the local Thrift Shop
Sifting through a big stack of records in the thrift shop in the sma town where I live (2000 peopleish).. and don't I come across six De Wolfe library LP's all in pretty nice shape for a buck a piece. Some of the jackets are beat up but the wax is pretty minty. The first one I drop the needle to is ...

I've been lurking the forums for a while, so I thought I'd say what's up from Canada! I've been loving the 202 the past couple months, paired with the Boss BR 4-track.
