to me the best way is to get a accapella and just chop different vocal cuts from the song and place em into your track.

i do that on many songs after i finish making it, i would load up a different accapellas for the track and just cut different parts to add to certain places in the track.

Are you submitting to blogs/forums regularly or facebook groups or instagram?

i normally just eq the bass a bit higher in the mix unless it's a boring bass line. if that's the case, i'll either use a keyboard or my actual bass, depending on how i'm feeling. then filter and mix!

side-chaining techniques on the sp vary. the one i like to use is mfx 12 compression on my kick and sample. make sure your sample volume is lower than your kick sample (i normally turn my sample down to about 80-90 and leave my kick at 127). turn knob one all the way right, knob two all the way left ...
