Re: Is the SP555 basically a more powerful 404?
The MPC 1000 is a great sampler although it is more of a studio sampler than a portable and easy to use sampler like the 404. The good thing is you can layer a sample. (for example a snare and a clap can be on the same pad which makes for a much more unique approach and doesnt require resampling ...

used 404 for pitching, 606 for chopping, drums from my library in ableton and some mastering done in ableton as well as dialogue from an old hypnotism film from the 50's. great sample choices!

Re: Joji using SP404sx
Are you talking about notable artists? If so alot ive seen Grimes, Mild High Club, James Blake, Animal Collective, Toro y Moi and lots of others. I'd say the 404 is pretty much as standard as the MPC in terms of a sampler that many people in the industry use nowadays.
Re: SPBB#245
shoutout to r4ph for holding us accountable lol... I def try to follow the rules completely when I do these.. I feel like that is the most important part in terms of the exercise of being forced to make a beat a certain way... that being said there are def times when ive gone over the time limit ...
Re: SPBB#245
To be honest, I only used a very short vocal snippet in my track (less than 5 seconds), I was under the impression that the sample rule was referencing the majority of the melodic shit in the beat but i see your point too.
Re: SPBB#245
You guys all did your thing, I voted Green Dutch because the blackout concept was so dope to me.
And good looks John!

Yes, play pattern 1 and while it is playing press the pad where pattern 2 is and it will begin on the next measure. if you want to make the pattern play immediately use the sub pad.

not really a fan of this style but this was straight fire! nice transitions.
Re: SPBB#245
My flip. Used the Piano and horn sample. All chopping and arranging in Og404 with some samples from AZ and nas acapellas. Also some pitching done in Ableton. Dope shit with these samples!

Re: What headphones you using?
Personally I think it's best to use headphones that are most widely used as it will give you a more universal sound since most people use Seinheissers and Audio Technica I would stick to those brands. They off a pretty neutral frequency response so you'll get a good mix.
I use the audio technicas ...
