Re: MPC 1000 - not impressed!

I should probably update this...

For now, I still have both. The MPC has grown on me a lot, especially since I sprung for JJOS2XL.

I'm running a little experiment at the moment. I've swapped the MPC for my RM1X as it needs it's switches replaced anyway, so it's now sitting at the heart of all my ...

Re: MPC 1000 - not impressed!

It's really easy making loops on the SP from the way it's designed to play the loop points while editing. So I can definitely understand why you find it easier. The MPC and other samplers require you to be more precise. But practice makes perfect. I've been using MPCs since the 2000 dropped in 1997 ...

Re: MPC 1000 - not impressed!

The RM1X seems more suitable for you if you like the sequencer with the SP. But it don't sample. Also keep in mind that the SP is limited compared to the MPC. The MPC has mute groups which are good for hi hats, plus 16 levels for playing your samples in different notes like a keyboard. The MPC also ...

MPC 1000 - not impressed!

So, a little story for you:

I like hardware, and although I have a studio based around my computer, for me, Pro Tools or Ableton is what happens after I've finished playing music.

Before I get to them, I want to jam out on my synths and boxes with flashing lights so I have a venerable old RM1X as ...

Re: Pitch/matching samples...

I've tried putting all the samples I want to use on my phone and then using an app that has that functionality. It works really well.

Heres the app I use(it's also available for android):
m

That app looks great!

Leads me onto a supplementary question:

What are using to record samples into ...

Re: Pitch/matching samples...

why not use you ear and start messing with both pitches until you're satisfied? i think it's the best and also that way you can adjust very precisely how the pitch will sound on both sample and give great effects and vibes to your track. don't be that lazy guy that buys a 404 and expect it to do it ...

Re: Pitch/matching samples...

i use other gear for that. the 404 is a great sampler but is limited in many ways... get a 202 cheap and it will do the trick for you, you might use it for bouncing, sampling and other stuff too

a mpc is also great but more expensive. you might consider getting one in the future

i actually ...

Pitch/matching samples...

I know this topic has been done to death as a good search of the forum seems to reveal many threads on the subject.

I got my 404sx last week and have been coming to grips with it over the past week. I love it to bits and it's one of the most creative bits of kit I've used in ages.

However, the ...

I'm talking about AA batteries versus the AC power cord, if that helps?

Re: Tip: turn off auto-stereo for sampling on SX

My one seems to not save this setting after you switch off - is that normal?

Same with the auto-record threshold - it resets to off after a power down as well. Is there a way to keep these switched??

Thanks!

Battery/AC power question

Hey guys,

New 404sx owner here with a quick question:

Does the unit use batteries at all when it's plugged in? As in, does plugging in the unit automatically switch off battery power?

I quite fancy keeping batteries in it, for if I want to move away from my desk, but not if they will just get run ...
