Thanks for the input everybody, I ended up buying the MPC, and it seems like I got a great deal despite me having no idea how to use the thing. Once i get cables that allow me to record from my sp into it in stereo it's allll over no more life for me.

That sounds pretty cool, I feel like I could achieve similar results with my DAW. I'm still open to suggestions though, as ideally I want to be able to create beats from scratch using only my SP. I heard JJOS allows you to resample patterns, is there any disadvantages to using it?
