for me the clear winner is the SP303.

(i had all the SPs and got the new one too)

hard to argue why... i just like the sound of the whole machine. the beats i did on the 303 sound more pleasing to my ears than what i did on the other SPs.

i was 2nd on the preorder list and the local music store (switzerland) only received one unit. they sent a message to the only one that ordered before me but he passed on it since he bought some other stuff in the meantime. so i was the lucky dude ...

i had them all... there's even a picture of my couch with every SP on it...

i just kept the 202 (2x), 303 (3x), 404 OG (2x) and 404SX

my absolute favourite of the all was and will forever be the SP-303. Runner-up is 404OG.

Copped one. shipping is kind of expensive (5 bucks more than the tape itself) to switzerland but i'm sure it'll be very worth the money as usual

just received mine - fits perfect. no problems with chroma caps (fatty knob).

i already gave you props in the sp-1200 fb group - amazing progress so far!

Wow thanks for the heads up! i once wrote to them (decksaver) that they should consider making one for the sp404. this will be everything i need since it covers/secures the knobs when tossed in a backpack.

i use a tascam DR-05 for this kind of things. and to record my finished beats i did on sp-303/404 etc. works without problems since a few years and im happy with the quality of the recordings.

VOLUME and CONTROL Potentiometers are not the same (different model-nr. and different sockets afaik) just a heads up...

i would give it a try since these pots are relatively cheap and with a bit of luck you'll probably have the cheapest 404 on the planet

Sounds like you just tried the Card Banks C/D

The Card Banks (C/D) can only play one sample at a time. Time/Delay don't work on card samples. Card samples take more polyphony, you can only play 1 sample from card at a time or one sample from C/D and one from A/B.

Use the internal banks if you want ...

yeah, why not get both of those knobs now (when they're available) just in case you need them sometimes. that was exactly my thought...

but luckily that wobbly/flimsy knob still works like a charm - even if it always feels like "next time i touch it it'll break"

we met on fridays, drank beer and smoked some jazz cigarettes before we both pulled out the 303s to do these beats.
