Re: Favorite effects/SP effects?

On the 404sx I use a lot of tape echo, some reverb, bit crash, compressor, and some ring mod. I combine some of these effects when resampling, depending on the material.

Re: power supply buzzing?

You're better off buying the Roland Power supply as the cheaper replacements usually have these issues. You get what you pay for. So it'll be money well spent.

Re: MPC 1000 - not impressed!

It's really easy making loops on the SP from the way it's designed to play the loop points while editing. So I can definitely understand why you find it easier. The MPC and other samplers require you to be more precise. But practice makes perfect. I've been using MPCs since the 2000 dropped in 1997 ...

Re: MPC 1000 - not impressed!

The RM1X seems more suitable for you if you like the sequencer with the SP. But it don't sample. Also keep in mind that the SP is limited compared to the MPC. The MPC has mute groups which are good for hi hats, plus 16 levels for playing your samples in different notes like a keyboard. The MPC also ...

Re: MV for the Minimalist

Thanks for posting that, Ill. I've been using my MPC2K with my SP-404SX since I bought it a couple of years ago. I've slept on the MV all this time. But now it's looking like it might be a better workflow with everything being contained in the MV.

No new sampler. But I'll take the TR-09 and the TB-03 to go with my SP-404SX.

Re: 404sx Factory SD Card Size?

Considering it's a factory reseal, the card may have been replaced with a 4gb card. I bought mine new and sealed from Sweetwater and my card is 1gb. Enjoy the extra capacity. It should keep you from buying another for a while unless you're also using your SP as a field recorder. I use mine ...

Re: Thoughts on buying a bass guitar

Start out with something cheap like a Squier. Learn it well and it'll supplement your productions with more ideas. Aside from that, it's fun jamming with a few bands and hitting up open mic nights.

Re: Sp and...

There's a Mystery Bingo game inside the app that reveals some easter eggs, which isn't on the DS-10 version.

But anyway, wait for iDS10 to go on sale and check out Gadget 2.5 which was just released and is 50% off at the moment. Gadget is fuckin' bananas! I've been on it for a minute and the ...
