Re: warmer/more organic sounding beats
there's a few things going on in that track that are contributing to warmth. first off, like you noticed, its compressed. that will always help. also the dirty percussion could be described as warm. there is a definite tape hiss and/or vinyl crackle sound--that analog noise will give a warm feel ...

Re: warmer/more organic sounding beats
Thanks for the reply Andy. I've tried some of the techniques you mentioned already, but yeah after giving your soundcloud a listen your stuff is definitely "warm".

warmer/more organic sounding beats
What's up guys, recently I've stumbled across some beats that have all had this certain "sound characteristic" to them... The best way I can describe it is similar to using the vinyl compressor but even better. It sounds very warm and organic. But anyways, I've tried messing around with my 404 and ...

Re: First official 404 beat
Respect. Some people dig that sound while others don't. I have no idea how to use the sequencer. Just resampledtunnelno5 wrote:A little too lo-fidelity for my taste, but the groove and sample are on point! Did you use the sequencer?

Re: Crunchy Percussion?
Would really like to experiment with it. Only problem is I don't have a mic yet.false tropics wrote:Have you tried the piece of paper thing? Record it, loop or one shot it, apply effects. Could be cool.

Crunchy Percussion?
You know the sound I'm talking about... I've come across a number of tracks that all have this "crunchy" sound that runs through the mix almost like it's used as percussion. Almost sounds as if they're rustling a piece of paper through the mic. Anybody have a clue how I could achieve a similar ...

Re: Sending out audio into DAW?
That's the thing my man, I have it all set up the exact way that you said, but for some reason I just don't get any sound when trying to use the scarlet 3/4 outputs. But after adjusting a few knobs I managed to make the headphone output quality better, so I'm satisfied now!
Guess that is a wrap my ...

Re: Sending out audio into DAW?
It works if I plug the cable into the headphone jack (like you mentioned) but I'm trying to make it work by using the outputs because of the sound quality.

Re: Sending out audio into DAW?
Yeah I want to grab the audio coming from the scarlet outs. I have the stereo cable going into channel 3, and I also set the 404's channel to 3 by holding down pad #3 during power up. But when I select "Send audio out to: ext. channel 3" in ableton, I'm not hearing any sound come out of my 404. And ...

Re: Sending out audio into DAW?
Yeah I'm trying to sample straight from ableton. I've got a cable going from the ins of my sp which then goes into output channels 3/4 on my audio interface.

Re: Sending out audio into DAW?
Since the default input channels on the 6i6 are 3 and 4 I had to go into the Ableton settings and change the input from channels 1/2 to 3/4. Finally works!
