Ah, cheers for the input. I'm trying to avoid the PC as much as possible, though, so as to lug as little kit onto stage as possible.

I'll keep plugging away, and I'll post my findings in case anyone feels the need to do what I'm doing.

Right, I've tried both of these suggestions, and have encountered problems with both routes.

If I use an XLR-RCA lead, I get a real nasty buzzing noise, no matter what I do with the levels at either end.

And if I just jack my bass straight into the Mic slot, it distorts terribly, no matter what ...

Sampling bass guitar into a 404

Anyone got any experience of this?

I've got a XLR out of my bass amp, and I was toying with hooking that up to the mic hole, or maybe the line in RCA ports. Which would be better?

I realise I could just hang a mic near my amp, but I kinda want to incorporate the 404 into some kind of live set up ...
