Yeah I figured that might be the issue - I'll try it out. Thanks for the reply!

Loud Clicking Sound with Certain Effects

Hi all,

So I recently imported a bunch of drum hits into my 404 (loaded on the external card), but I'm having some strange playback issues when applying effects to these samples. What I like to do is sequence out a drum pattern, and then experiment with different effects (usually the vinyl sim or ...

Re: Turntable Question

Are you going straight into the sp or through a mixer? The pre amp on a mixer should fatten up the sound, also you can mess with the filters and beef up the low/mid/high

Nah, straight into the SP. The TTUSB has a built-in phono preamp, which probably means its pretty shitty. The external audio ...

Turntable Question

Hey there,

So I've gotten pretty comfortable sampling vinyl into my 404 / computer over the past few months, but the sound quality seems pretty terrible in a lot of cases. Right now I have a Numark TTUSB running through my sp-404 and finally into a Focusrite Saffire 2i2 interface. The sound is ...

Re: sp404 sampling question?

Oh also just saw this info about chopping longer loops on the og 404 vs SX and the og 404 has a way of doing it that is different than the SX. It has never been an issue for me on the SX as I just cue the source to grab different bits but good info to see before you buy I guess.

Re: sp404 sampling question?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I was doing some searching and actually had a very similar question to this -

I'm thinking about buying an SP-404 (or SX, not sure yet), and I want to sample vinyl through my Numark TT USB turntable. There's an RCA cable going out from the back of the ...

Re: SP-404SX vs Original SP-404

Cool - ill have to dig around for that. A side-by-side sound comparison is exactly what I'm looking for. The main problem will be finding a seller for an OG 404, haha.

The other thing I'm sort of concerned about with the OG is that it doesn't have a pitch shifting feature? Seems kinda whack..

SP-404SX vs Original SP-404

Hey all,

I know there's a few threads on this topic already, but none of them seemed to address the main concern I had about the 404 series.

As I understand it, the SX has a few major improvements in terms of workflow (the pattern copy, etc.), but I'm more interested in the relative sound ...
