Hi there,
I recently got a Shure SM57, and after plugging it into the mic in port on the SP, the sound is genuinely great! It, in fact, sounds better through the SP than it does through my interface (which has built in pre-amps and still requires me to crank up the gain for it to be adequately ...

Re: Made my first beat on the SP-404SX!
Sounds great! So did you record the samples in in one take, playing it 'live' so to speak? Did you use the SP's sequencer at all?

First song with the SP-404SX
Hey, I wrote this thing on the SP-404, and recorded the samples in and reconstructed it in Reaper. I haven't got too much enthusiasm or experience for mixing, so it doesn't sound exactly how I want it to, but let me know what you think:

Re: Pattern out of time on SP404
If it's way out of time, I suspect the bpm has reset itself when you've turned it off. I'm not sure exactly why this happens to be honest, but for me it only happens occasionally (it might be that it does this if you switch off when in pattern mode or something, but I don't have my machine to hand ...

Re: Bypass Click Track?
I am not trying to sample a song. I am building original songs with my own samples. I play drums, guitar, bass, keyboards, etc. I basically want to use the 404 like a backing track or a drum machine in a way. That way I can do solo shows where I play guitar and sing.

'Ext source' button can be recorded in the sequencer
I'd imagine plenty of people have figured this out, but the ext source button works like a number pad when recording a sequence. the actions of both turning the pad on and off are recorded into the pattern. Thought this might be handy for some, as you can play a clip through the RCA-in during ...

Re: Quantise troubles with the SX
It shouldn't be cutting the quantizing. My guess is your quantizing isn't matching the previous 'layers'...I think only one quantize grid is allowed per pattern. This is from memory, but I believe that the SPs with sequencers will remember the original placement of the notes and the quantize is ...

Quantise troubles with the SX
I've been trying to arrange a track in the sequencer, but something strange is happening when I quantise. My process is choosing 4, 8, 16 or 32, then adding 1 sample to the places I want it to be, before hitting cancel and restarting the process with the next sample. By, say, the 3rd sample I'm ...

Re: Compact Flash Card Size
I have an SX, but from what I hear, it only takes up to 1GB- it seems like this is enough for the average user.
In my case, to fill up the 1GB SD card I use, I'd have to fill all the banks of all the backup slots given with big samples, and even doing that would make it harder to navigate around ...

Re: Changing the sample volume + stereo to mono
How do you guys 'boost' your samples higher when you need it? Otherwise, is there a more convenient way of turning the other sample's volumes down than doing this one by one?

Changing the sample volume + stereo to mono
Hey, I got my SP-404SX a couple weeks back and am having a lot of fun with it. I run into problems when I load samples onto the machine and they're a little too quiet, even at the highest sample volume. How do you guys 'boost' your samples higher when you need it? Otherwise, is there a more ...
