Re: SP 555 Mic not working
As far as I remember, if you want to use guitars or bass with the 555, you have to set the input for HI-Z, if you are using a dynamic mic, set it to normal, and for condenser mic you should switch on the phantom power. I hope this helps.

Re: SP-1200 Clone Progress Updates
I'm very interested in this project.
Do you plan to sell complete units or kits later, or release the plans in the future?

Re: looping
I used my SP555 loop capture function a lot, but for jamming, and just messing around a separate loop pedal is much more convinient.
I bought an RC30... it has two tracks, and much more capture time than the SP itself, and if you find something to use later, you can save the two tracks to one bank ...

Re: Sampling From Vinyl Through Pioneer Mixer
On DJ mixers the record out are usually ~10dB lower to avoid clipping when recording, and the level is independent from the master out and cannot be changed.
Use the headphone out with a jack-RCA cable, or any line level output what you don't need (master2/booth), so you can set the output signal ...

Re: Recording directly into ABLETON
Dumb idea, but have you checked that, the input is set to line in?
Also I would turn up the SP just as much as it needed.
When I record back my 555 through a motu ultralite I usually crank the volume only around half and it's perfect, without distortion.

Gearogs - Discogs for your gear
I don't know if you heard about it, but there is a site like discogs, but for audio gear: Gearogs
So far it is working as a database for all kinds of audio equipment, but in april they are planning to start a marketplace for used gear.
I already started to add gear to my wantlist and collection ...

Re: SP scarcity concerns.
I've got my SP555 a few years ago for ~350 euro, and an SP808 with the OP1 board for around 180
Oh and a Roland U110 with 12 PCM cards for around 80 euro
All was in very good condition, but I should spend more time with them

Re: Using SP-555 with a Footswitch for recording insturments
As far as I know, the SP-555 needs a momentary switch, like the FS-5U.
The FS-5L is latch type. Maybe this is the problem
