Roland MS-1
The Roland MS-1
It's an old and very basic sampler that I would never get rid of.
I know there's already posts on here about it, but what the hell!
Awesome for making an MPC-style mute group
Four different sampling rates for very lo-fi sounds
Pitch knob for realtime pitch/time changing

Roland MS-1 Card Backup
After messing around with SysEx and failing to get the MIDI bulk receive to work correctly (or at all), I decided to go a different route.
Using HDD Raw Copy Tool (freeware) you can make complete backups of your PCMCIA or CF cards that have been formatted by the MS-1.

Re: Picking up a Zoom sampletrak tomorrow morning ; )
I have the SP-555 & 606, along with a Yamaha SU200... the SampleTrak is an absolutely great piece of gear! Don't hesitate to pick one up if you find it for a good price. Combined with the leaked editor software, this thing is so powerful. A rare gem!

NO SysEx MIDI Thru
The Roland SP series does not allow you to pass-thru MIDI SysEx data from the MIDI/USB IN to the MIDI OUT.

Re: New SP Sampler (Pioneer not Roland !)
There are a few videos out about it, nothing past the Pad screen... Understandable for a device with incomplete firmware.
I want to know how the Slice mode handles. Hopefully you will be able to play a sample and tap the pads to slice a sample, I have always wanted this feature. Hell, Cool Edit Pro ...

Re: XD to SmartMedia card adapter
I bought an XD-SMC Adapter (SMC Interface) just like the one pictured, with two 128 Olympus XD cards.. And neither of them work with my SP-505. Just a heads up!

Re: Compatible Compact Flash Cards
I use the following cards with my Roland SP-555:
32MB Akai "Bonus Track" card (got with my MPC1000)
2GB SanDisk ultra II
2GB SanDisk blue/red design (original)
2GB Roland M-2G
The SanDisk original card will not work on boot, but if you eject & reinsert the card, it will work fine.

Awesome post, thanks !
You can mess with the effects while resampling as long as you get out of [EDIT] mode while the sampling button is blinking green.

Re: Rechargeable Battery Pack for SP-555????
The USB speakers I'm using are only powered by the USB.
There's an 1/8" plug that I convert to 1/4" for the headphone out of any of this gear for the audio signal.
