I might be able to suggest something here, but probably need to know what keyboard you are using and how. I assume the backings are sequenced on the keyboard??

Here is a bit of a step by step:
1. Record or copy a sample to a pad
2. Change the pad volume to 0 (so the pad is silent when you hit it)
3. Go into pattern mode and record a pattern using the silent pad
Now when you select the pattern when the sequencer is playing the SP will continue to loop ...

I managed to solve this one in 3 different ways. I had to treat the SP like a spoilt kid!
I had the SP in a chain and it is a swine because it will accept clock in but not pass it on....it really does not play ball in a chain and does not make a very good friend to anything else further down the ...

Might be a useful tip...lets see.....
I have an sp555 in a live midi set up including a roland mc303, novation nova and electribe er1 (ea1 on the way)
I have a love hate relationship with the sp by the way....it is currently out of the set up because i have fallen out with it, but hey....anyway ...
