Re: SP BATTLE 120 POLL
@tfa: thx for your vision just i don't understand "heavy wow/flutter" you want to say that it's too compressed or rough ?
At 0:03, 0:14, and in many other places I hear what I suppose to be some wow/flutter effect, simulating the irregularities in the playback speed of analog tape, applied with ...

RUNRUN_RAW - K.A.T.G.-Secret Sp Edit!
Has a somewhat centrifugal quality to it, like a sonic whirlwind
PINKY AND THE BRAIN - Goldipus Love Angel of Clontarf Diarexia
The heavy, liquid effects on the sounds recall the paradoxes of a wandering mind.
Those percussive sounds in the end seem to ...

Pootie Tang - sp119
Brutal and claustrophobic - I liked how the filter at 00:25 reduced the beat to an essential, pulsating entity
blavatsky - war of the roses
An encyclopedia of interesting and varied sounds, unfortunately the song seems to lack a strong sense of structure

Re: Invisible friend battle #118 POLL
here are my impressions
mcfishuh - Myneighbor
+ Nice beat
- Sounds like the same pattern iterated over and over, with some effects here and there
lazer bear - roar of totoro
+ Dreamy and gentle theme, easy on the ears
- Drums sound too prominent, and the sounds remind the original material a ...

Re: elhuana - We, the Kings of the Planet EP
How many emotional blows are you ready to take from music ?
"We, the Kings of the Planet" challenges you to find your limit, one blow to the stomach after the other, one goosebump after the other.
Musically speaking, if there's any sense at making loops and beats, it's here: the underlying ...

- djmellow - beat with no name
Relaxed and evoking groove, maybe the snare stands out a little too much.
A good 30 seconds here and there could have been left out.
The sound at 0:12 is interesting, would have been nice to hear more of it.

Re: Monotron Delay....
My hope is that korg will sell enough stand-alone units to finally bite the bullet, and release a complete midi-equipped analog mono synth with a real keyboard and analog FXs.
Of course: you can hack monotrons/monotribes at will, and greatly expand their initial capabilities... but it's not like ...

Re: Plastic Heart EP
great job, shows a lot of ideas and proves your skills at composing complete, 'organic' songs
the instrumental passages are interesting and well weighed (save for the ending of blind/mind, I'd have cut that ukulele passage around at 2:00 )
you might want to check the levels for 'words in time ...

a few notes:
lasers - extreme, squarepusher-esque work with the effects, and vocals sound almost brutal
phonecall - the contrast between the human voices and the mechanical, ice-cold sounds is staggering
immortal - sounds like a dynamic, urgent track from a videogame
ballroom - a visionary ...

Great job, thanks !
Should you decide to upload new files, you could consider posting them as .wav (uncompressed) format.

summer 2011 ep
Hi all, first post here
this summer I put together five songs, unfortunately I couldn't use any sp sampler (maybe in the future ?)
Anyway, since it's loop based music, and since I got a lot of great free music here, I thought to share
Thanks !
