Frustrating and ...

Working with samples is a pain in the fucking ass on this!!!
Yeah I'll admit it. I've been sleeping on the 303 ever since I got it. Well decided to get back into it, and one thing that I'm remembering that put me off of it in the first place, is working with chops. Not drum breaks, but say, take a smooth jazz lick, you chop it up and getting the samples to ...

Re: sampling to tape ?
what up from the stix of weston, ct--
i would bounce your finished song to cassette, pushed slightly to the red, so you get that nice subtle distortion. also it will make the tape hiss consistent throughout the mix instead of cutting in and out

Probably wasn't your intention, but cheers for the inspiration bro.
I've been struggling with the 303 but I see I just haven't been "putting in the time" with it, like I did on the digital side.
Groove you got sound good, and it's about time I locked myself away for a bit to just really get into ...

Re: do you always stay in the classic beatmaking genre?
With respect to everyones comments-asking why hip hop producers should still stick to boom bap is like asking rock musicians why they still make songs with just acoustic guitar. It's just tradition, and the sound of a culture. I'm all for expanding the boundries in any genre of music or art- I wanna ...
