velocity tip for you guys, but you may already know

im using the MPC 1000 + Sp 303 combo now, but what I used to do for velocity on the 303 is....when recording hats for instance, i would tap the pad and then turn the main volume knob left and right.

a little tricky to get the hang of, but it worked for me.

but obviously its a lot easier to control ...

Re: How to turn loops into songs?

just make an 8-bar drum loop for the verse and then copy that same drum loop for the chorus, but overdub a few kicks to change up the loop a bit...like this

say the loop is like this: kick snare kick snare

make the chorus loop like this: kick snare ki-kick snare

numark ndx 400

can you plug this up via USB to your computer and stream music from iTunes/youtube/a daw ,etc. and record onto the ndx400 and loop it/add efx, etc?

or is the usb function only for choosing files, drag/drop, etc.?

Re: What's your favorite SP combo (like SP404 with an MPC 2kxl)

chop samples inside the mpc and run into the sp 303 for fx, then sample back into the mpc to sequence everything.

with software involved, i like to do all my chops inside soundforge, sample into the sp 303 and sequence inside cubase.

Re: best way to perfect start points of chops?

its very easy for me doing it this way...

just get ready to play your sample and then hit record and a pad on the 303 and then when the 303 is ready to record to tap 'record' and hit play on whatever your sample source is, almost hitting them simultaneously, but making sure you hit record on the ...

Re: what is your normal beat making process?

if my beat is based off a sample/chops, then i will find the bpm and lay down the chops to a hat track or something. then i will lay down drums/percussion over the chops and when i get a drum loop that i like, thats when i start doing my layering.

once i get the basics down, i start adding ...

303 vinyl sim tuning

Im not new to beatmaking, but new to the 303. I dont have the manual and Ive been learning everything on my own. So my only question is:

When I add drums/samples or anything else and I apply the Vinyl Sim, for some reason it tunes down the sample. Why does it do this for and how do i fix it?

This ...
