I do not believe this is possible.
You can activate one effect on many samples at the same time
and you can resample a sample with effects and have it be the same everytime you hit it, you could do this for every sample using a different effect.
-but you cannot use two effects from the 555's ...

Re: Gap of silence when capturing a loop. Is there any fix?
Loop capture works well when in free (measure) mode for recording live blips and blops of real instruments (non tempo sync)
I've used this for looping various things and it still retains the energy of a live performing instrument track.

Re: Compatible Compact Flash Cards
maelstrom99,
SD cards I think work in the newer SP 404 SX, but for the SP 555 and the old 404, you need Compact Flash cards of 2/1 GB or less respectively.
I don't think that converters will work either, pretty sure they have to be the actual card. never tried though... I didn't even know they ...

I just received 2 new SanDisk Extreme III CF cards, and so far they work wonderfully!
My Ultra II is still pumpin along well, but they seem to be very hard to find.
-Just a tip for anyone lookin for new cards-

Re: CF card probem
I know the Ultra II are a big NO! I use SanDisk Ultra CF, 2GB (15MB/s) - can't go wrong with this one!
This is interesting, I have an Ultra II, which works fantastically! And every "Ultra" I've tried (i've tried about 6) have not worked. I wonder if each machine acts differently to different ...

Re: Looping atmospheric sounds
After I record the silence, should I record the organ at the very first beat?
(just because this wasn't mentioned yet)
If you want to start at the beginning of the measure using this method, you can always flip on the metronome

Re: midi interface problems
I wonder if there is a way to boot up the 555 in such a way where the pads won't do anything to the machine, like to act as ONLY a MIDI controller?
I've looked at the manual, but haven't found anything ...yet

Re: KP3 and Roland SP-555
It does depend on what kind of musical tool you need and how you intend to use it.
I bought a KP3 and played with it for a while, it had some neat effects on it and i liked being able to loop stuff live with it. But, I ultimately returned it and bought a 555 instead. You get all the pads and banks ...

That's interesting sharpmotif, how could you tell your SP was faulty? Did it not work with any card, or not at all?

Re: Compatible Compact Flash Cards
I recently bought three SanDisk 2GB Ultra cards, and two of them didn't work, so I returned them all in search of Ultra II cards (which is what I am using now and it works fine). I thought that it was unlikely to receive two bad cards in the same order, so I assumed that they just weren't compatible ...

Re: turning off midi note send in sp-555?
Yes, the issue is probably in the settings of the soft synth or logic. Like sharpmotif said, omni setting would mean that the soft synth responds to all midi channels, so switch it to whatever channel you specifically want it to respond to, if this is the case

SP-555 as MIDI controller?
Hey everyone,
I have a 555 that I use for its sampling and recording and stuff, but I want to start using it as a MIDI controller, specifically for Ableton Live. Does anyone know of a way to boot up the 555 or change the settings so that the controls/buttons/knobs only send MIDI messages via USB ...
