Re: writing melodies on sp404
^ yea you're right my bad. the 404 is a phrase sampler, meaning it does not resample each sound at different notes. it is best for playing back single, one-shot sounds.

Re: writing melodies on sp404
no, you'd need a phrase sampler for that. which the 404 is not.
your best bet is to make several copies of your base sound, and resample them each at different pitches to your liking. then try to work from there.

Re: Copy pattern & Exchange
yeah not sure what you're mad about here...copying samples works just like you'd think it would. you still need to resample though if you wanna keep effects.

Re: playing patterns and sampling simultaneously
you can't resample patterns just with the 404.
i think he's saying how to pan single samples. turn the tremolo/pan MFX on for whatever you wanna pan, make the rate real slow, and keep hitting the pad until you hear it's where you want it, then resample that.

Re: Easy question about the 404sx
saves automatically. you can turn the machine off and back on and everything will be the same, including the last pattern tempo you were working at.

Re: midi soundssss
more expensive usually means more knobs/faders/buttons for parameter controls. and most DAW's support VST's that your midi keyboard will be able to play just fine. a lot of vst's are free too.

Re: How do you track out?
i haven't messed with the shuffle too much but it's like any other quantize setting so i'm sure it would apply to all pads. and yeah, i just haven't found a way to get my tracks sounding clean on the 404. just real loud and busy.

Re: How do you track out?
use the isolator (all knobs to the left) to mute certain elements...
works with subsonic too...
alright thanks, i guess that's the best method to go about it.
i totally get why you would wanna track out, but why'd you get the 404 if your trying to multitrack all the sounds?? just mix in the box ...

How do you track out?
just wondering what methods you guys use on the sp to track out. how do you record sounds individually to allow for mixing in a DAW or whatnot?

Re: Recording loops
what i do is open any software that can host vst's, set the tempo at whatever it is on the sp, and record from there then either export as a wav or just record straight into the 404.
