Re: BOSS RC 505

This thing looks like an expanded Loop Capture done right. Hopefully there aren't any major shortcomings.

I can't wait for Johnny De Marco to demo this thing, then you'll see some real enthusiasm.

Re: What about using an SP as a guitar pedal?

Most guitar pedals will work fine with line level stuff, the problem here is not having a dedicated guitar input on the sampler.

You'll probably have a better chance running a pedal into the line input(s) instead of using the mic in.

Re: Wii: what to know (it's a present)

There are three different versions of the Wii.

The original has GameCube compatibility, the revised version does not. The new one is the "Wii Mini", which lacks both backwards compatibiliy and Wi-Fi (!) - but I believe this one is only available for Canadians.

I'd go for the original version, so ...

Re: Playbook (Pacemaker, Caustic, Nodebeat)

[Update]
About the Playbook: the hardware is solid and the OS is great. It does take a while to boot up but other than that I can't complain. The mics work surprisingly well (at least compared to the 555 mic, that is). The app selection isn't all that great but most basic stuff is there and works ...

Re: pseudo mute groups cancel/remain button

I don't think there's is an easy way to do this while sequencing.

Delete mode works the same on the 555.

The pattern sequencer itself works as a mute group too.

Re: guitar/pedal heads, help!!

I'd check if the adapter does actually provide 9v (or 9.6v) - if it's unregulated, it could be anything from 9v up to 14v or so. As for the current draw it shouldn't be a problem, unless it doesn't actually provide 2000mA (the adapter needs to provide more current than what the pedal draws).

You ...

Re: using external or plug in effects

The SP-555 works as a full duplex (record and monitor) audio interface for the I/O (MIC, LINE IN, LINE OUT, PHONES). For the sampler engine however it's only half-duplex, meaning you can only record OR monitor.

You can check the signal flow on the manual.

The workaround for this is offline ...

Playbook (Pacemaker, Caustic, Nodebeat)

Anyone with a Playbook minds to share some insight?

While Caustic and Nodebeat are available on other platforms (Android; iOS/Android), Pacemaker is exclusive.

Re: Import pattern like midi track in a sequencer on a PC

Just to clear things up: the SP-555 has USB-MIDI and works quite well as a MIDI interface itself. So you don't need an external MIDI interface for that. It's just a matter of setting things up.

There's only one scenario that requires an external (audio) interface: multitracking audio live with the ...

While there's a topic on this on page 1 (http://sp-forums.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=9822), perhaps yours is titled better and will be easier to find through search (either internal or external).

I think we could have a sticky about the most ordinary issues/info like latest firmware, card ...

I don't know if it's the same user and it doesn't show much about taking knobs out or whatever but here's a video with a modded 404: http://www.youtube.com/v/f8JCpId33wU

Re: Limiting effect knob parameters with SP-404?

You can use Remain to set the parameters before using an effect and IIRC each effect saves the last Ctrl 1/2/3 state used.

You can't modify parameters and AFAIK there's no way to do exactly what you want with the 404.

Both DJFX and Tape Echo can work as a pitch shifter of sorts, maybe you could ...

Two little tricks

Cancel+D Beam goes into Sensitivity Setting, with Synth the pads work as a guide for the scale (sorta, a bit off sometimes). What's good about this is that you're still able to use Loop Capture (I think it will Sample/Resample as well). Too bad the pads can't be used to trigger notes, bummer ...

Re: Mute Group Trick No Longer 'Ghetto'!!

Edit 1: double post.

Edit 2: Forget about that, Sub Pad only works combined with a pad in Pattern Mode... You guys are right though, it seems to glitch unless you hit a pad exactly on beat.

Say you have a beat with hat+kick; hat; hat+snare; hat - unless you hit exactly on hat+kick/hat+snare the ...
