PEOPLE BITCHING ABOUT AUTOCHOP FEATURES.
It's not much of an advantage unless you're just a complete lazy ass. It's the same damn thing as chopping by ear but more accurate, and visual. It's not much of an advantage. It still takes a decent producer to adjust the length of each zone according to ...

Re: 808s & Heartbreak
Yo I feel you. Kanye could be more humble about his work. And I say "Word!" to being a young oldhead too. I'm only 17 and I'm stuck on the 90's. I live in the south, where people listen to straight garbage and have a new favorite song every week. In a book called Born to Use Mics, the author was ...

Re: 808s & Heartbreak
That's kind of like saying you'd stop listening to every rapper in the game just because they brag about their lyrical skill in most of their songs. The industry is just as aggressive as it is passionate. It's been like that. It just be like that.

Re: 808s & Heartbreak
Idk man, I think it's good to see a mainstream album that focuses more on the poetic expression of emotions than the usual materialistic garbage. Dude went out of his narcissistic comfort zone when he was making the album, but I agree with you both 100%. His personality has tainted his music.
And ...

808s & Heartbreak
Yeah I know: "Blah blah blah, auto tune. Blah blah blah, kanye's a dick. Blah blah blah, sell out".
But FUCK that! I must say that this album is underrated. The production is so ill and the tracks have deep ass meanings. I gotta admit i was one of the people who didn't even like the album before i ...

Re: Synthesizer
i would say, look on Craigslist for old 80's Ensoniq synths, i ended up buying a Ensoniq ESQ1 for $140, Ensoniq makes great gear hands down and they were all made in the USA, unfortunatly they dont really have vocoder options, but i would say go for a real synth rather than a newer Microkorg toy ...

Synthesizer
So i have no clue what type of synthesizer i should buy. Also i'm on a tight budget and need a vocoder function. I'm torn between Kaossilator Pads and Microkorgs. I'm not planning to make synth the basis of my beats, but to add as a filler to create a 90's chicago/westcoast sound (like do or die and ...

Born to Use Mics: Reading Nas's Illmatic by Michael Eric Dyson and Sohail Daulatzai
This book is amazing. It uses all of the tracks from Illmatic as a basis of comparison for music and society before and after the golden age of hip hop.
