Fine tuning loop edit points

I asked this over on rolandclan.info but didn't get any response. Doesn't seem to be many SP-606 users there.

On the SP-606, can the increments at which the sample Start/End points are edited be adjusted? One click of the dial moves the Start or End point by hundreds/thousands of samples, and I ...

I think the SP-808's D-Beam, knobs, and maybe faders, can all send MIDI coninuous controller messages. So yes, it might work as a good controller for Ableton, etc. (Ask on the ableton.com community forums.) Setting it up in Ableton as a custom MIDI controller should be a simple process.

If it's ...

That's right...it never hurts to ask. I would even be willing to pay for such a OS update, and my guess is some other people would be as well...Maybe ask nicely first for a free upgrade, then if there's no response, propose that they do it and offer it for a fee...?

yeah, this is annoying. it should be a simple thing in 2008 to upgrade this beast with a new storage option...

of course Roland is not likely to be helpful (as they want us to buy their NEW gear), but if approached properly, maybe they would give some of the code or whatever to somebody willing ...

Well, that French site seems to be advertising a solution, but so far they have not responded to my e-mail inquiries...Maybe someone here who speaks French can try contacting them?

SP-808's can be bought for dirt cheap these days, and if there's a new drive solution, it gives the thing a whole ...

thanks for the clarification. guess we're stuck buying a 512 MB from GC for $50, when Fry's has got a 4 GB card on sale for $10...

how hard could it be for ROLAND to update the software...?

yes, it only reads 512, but since 512 cards are hard to find, perhaps some 1GB or 2 GB cards will work (even though the machine will use only 512 MB), right...?

Maybe we could start a list of 1 or 2 GB cards that actually work, since 512 MB cards are increasingly hard to find. It's nice that the 1 and 2 GB cards are getting cheaper, but not if they don't work.

I got a Dane-Electric 1 GB card from a good camera store (they didn't even have any 512 MB ...

It worked--you're a genius! Thanks for the tip...

Just curious, do you plan to inform Roland of the problem you found with System Version 1.11? You might post on the Rolandclan.info forum, see what kind of response you get... I fear that now that the 606 is "old" (i.e. Roland wants everyone to ...

Thanks; which is the "root folder" on the memory card? I assume it's the "SP606" folder and not the "BKUP" folders. I've copied the .bin file from the download into the "SP606" folder on the card. On the computer it shows it's there, and it's more than 4,000 KB.

But the 606 is not doing the auto ...

OK so I tried to load the 1.11 update to my 606, and got the error message "No Data" on card. It's so fun when things don't work.

I thought I did everything right according to the manual. Used a friend's Windows XP computer (sorry, I use APPLE). Formatted the card on the 606, dropped the SP606 ...

You may want to make a backup copy of your P606 software; I tried to get a P606 CD from Roland (didn't get one w/ my used 606), and they said they can no longer get them from Japan...

Thanks...I was checking the rolandus.com site, which doesn't have these updates. Having MAC OSX, I won't be able to use them anyway.

"Mac OS-X not compatible. Please use MacOS9 or Windows PC for updating." MAC OS9...? What's that about? Uh...Apple released OSX YEARS ago. Again, no love from ...
