Probably the same type of difference people find between a MPC 2000xl and a 1000... barely noticeable?
hmm - seems like some are saying its more like the difference between an mpc60 and an mpc1000 aka a more obvious sonic ...

As regards pc "helper" software - Roland belatedly provided some for the first gen recorders such as Boss BR8 and SP-808 zip drive discs (after originally saying the discs couldn't be used in a pc!).
