i was thinking about this and noticing how many people want to import their patterns/songs into the computer from their mpc but can't. in today's world of pc music integration that's a downfall. but if i'm right the 606 can move patterns/songs back and forth with it's usb and software(is that right?). this alone could really be the breaking point for anyone with reason(or whatever).

I think backing up patterns goes to the Compact Flash card instead of directly to PC, but I haven't tried it out yet. The manual says it backs up patterns too, so yeah a near-direct save to PC is possible.

However, and this is a big thing, I'm not sure if it outputs the pattern data in a usable format for other software packages like Reason. I don't think so, or at least I haven't read about such functionality anywhere yet.

The fact that you cna record your 606 stuff directly to PC without anything besides a USB cable (that comes with the 606 anyway), with absolutely NO noise whatsoever (100% digital signal path), makes the 606 CRAP on the MPC in the computer integration dept.

As far as using 606 patterns with Reason - Recycle fixes any issues there..

Hello,

I'm wondering if the slightly more awkward method of
recording back & forth by MIDI-IN/OUT could work instead ?

As I understood the MIDI-notes aren't transmitted (from sequences , patterns ?) , so this method might not work...

LOL!

just save your song on the mpc card and drag the midi into ableton (or reason, logic, etc). eventually remap the samples. Everything should work just fine :D

I installed windows on an old computer just to use the usb audio
feature for recording the 606, but I still cant commit to setting it
all up, my linux setup is way to comfy. I have 4 laptops, all with
different passwords, and 1 is a radio server, it kind of sucks having
files scattered everywhere, so you have to learn to aggragate them
offline, when using linux workstations. , so I like using just 1 lapptop,
my little netbook
, with aurdor has no 606 drivers tho :(
